Llanero traditions in Colombia: live the best experience and tour the more than 9 thousand hectares destined to conservation and traditional livestock activity, where you will have the chance to enjoy the unique llanero safari, observing in their natural habitat capybaras, deers, babillas, and maybe with luck, felines or the anteater.
The trip is complemented by a night of llanero traditions with the wonderful family of “El gran Llanerazo Seudiel Gualteros (Seco)”, in front of the majestic Pauto River.

ITINERARY:

 

Starting Point: Alcaraván Airport or Hotel in Yopal.

Finishing Point: Alcaraván Airport or Hotel in Yopal.

Start time – day 1: 7:00.

End time – day 3: 19:00.

 

Day 1:

The We will meet at the airport or place in Yopal previously agreed.
Departure by 4×4 van to the Natural Reserve.
You will be able to tell the driver if you need to stop at a cash machine or to make some kind of purchase before leaving.

 

Arrival at the Reserve is stipulated around 9:30 a.m., where you will begin immediately with wildlife viewing and contemplation of the colombian llanos landscape as you enter these grounds, crossing extensive plains and observing many birds such as herons and savannah owls, as well as herds of capybaras, deers and babillas.
You will arrive around 11:00 a.m. at the lodge where you will be greeted with a cold drink and a snack.
You will be assigned your room and have lunch at noon with a beautiful view.

 

Between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m., you will go deep into the reserve in the safari vehicle to search for the most emblematic animals (anteaters, birds, anacondas, among others).
You will travel through different points of the more than 9,000 hectares that make up the Encanto de Guanapalo Reserve.
You will make stops to walk and explore the forested areas and wetlands.

 

At the end of the afternoon, you will have a toast where you will contemplate the sunset.
You will return to the lodge around 7:00 p.m. to have dinner and share a space with the workers of the herd to learn more about the traditions of the llaneras.
Afterwards, you will rest.

 

Day 2.

It dawns around 5:30 a.m.; you will have a coffee beforehand and then go on a horseback safari or a canoe ride through the extensive canyons that bathe the flooded savannahs.
You will have breakfast with a beautiful view and prepare your departure to move to the Rancho El Llanerazo, home of the cultivator and exponent of the plains “Seudiel Gualteros” or as we know him affectionately as “Seco”.

 

From the Reserve it is approximately 90 minutes to the new destination, passing through the picturesque town of San Luis de Palenque to visit its boardwalk and its history, where you will also have lunch at the museum restaurant “La Patrona”.

 

You will arrive at Rancho El Llanerazo around 3:00 pm with the reception of this wonderful family, which captivates with all its llaneras traditions, the details and affection that they put into every activity and every corner of the ranch.
At the end of the afternoon you will walk along the wooded trails of the Pauto River where you will be able to observe howler monkeys and birds typical of the gallery forests.
Night falls with a bonfire listening to myths and legends, a delicious dinner and rest on the banks of the river.

 

Day 3:

This day, they will enjoy learning about the plains, their cowboy songs, a visit to the museum of traditional plains items and an archaeological exhibit of vestiges of the Achagua Indians who inhabited this territory.
You will have a handicraft workshop based on the traditional use of leather and live a chocolate therapy experience.
All accompanied by cold drinks, coffee and a delicious and typical “llanero” lunch on the banks of the majestic Pauto River.
These and many more surprises will accompany this wonderful place.

 

Finally, they will return to Yopal around 7:00 pm.

TYPE OF ACCOMMODATION:

Accommodation can be in one of the three hatos that make up Encanto de Guanapalo (Mata de Palma, Altamira or Montana).
Rooms mostly in double accommodation (twin type), private bathroom, solar energy.
(No hot water or air conditioning).

RECOMMENDATIONS:

 

  • Wear comfortable, cool, quick-drying clothing, ideally in earth tones that allow for greater camouflage in the natural landscape.
    Pants and long sleeve shirts.
    Cap or hat (you can find an offer of hats in our allied store in Yopal “Sobreros Florentino”).
  • Rubber or waterproof boots (depending on size and availability they can be supplied by us), and comfortable and safe closed shoes.
  • Raincoat and dry bags for equipment.
  • Sun block and insect repellent.
  • Water bottle, thermos or camelback.
  • Sunglasses.
  • Basic personal hygiene items.
  • Flashlight, spare batteries, photography equipment, binoculars.
  • A medium sized assault backpack for use during activities.
  • Traveler’s documents: passport, identity card, civil registry or citizenship card (depending on age and origin), military passbook and medical insurance card.
