This herd of more than 8000 hectares located between the municipalities of Tauramena and Maní, is one of the few places that preserve its natural and cultural wealth in this sector of the department of Casanare.
The Hato Barley is an authentic place where you can experience a true nature tourism in Casanare.
In this ranch, you can enjoy watching large herds of capybaras, deers, hundreds of birds in the wetlands, among many other species. Likewise, you will have the opportunity to share with authentic llaneros their knowledge about the culture, traditions, territory, and biodiversity
Day 1:
The We will meet at the airport or place in Yopal previously agreed.
Departure by 4×4 van to Hato Barley.
You will be able to tell the driver if you need to stop at the ATM or make any kind of purchase before departure.
Arrival at the Hato is scheduled around 9:30 am, where you will immediately begin wildlife watching and contemplation of the llanero landscape, crossing extensive plains and observing many birds such as herons and savannah owls, as well as herds of capybaras, deers and babillas.
You will arrive around 11:00 a.m. at the lodge where you will be welcomed with a cold drink and a snack.
Afterward you will be assigned your room and will have lunch at noon with a beautiful view.
Between 2:30 and 3:00 p.m., you will go deep into the Hato in the safari vehicle or on foot to search for the most emblematic animals (anteaters, felines, anacondas, babillas, among others).
You will travel through different points and explore the forested areas and wetlands typical of the flood plain.
At the end of the afternoon, you will have a toast where you will contemplate the sunset in a unique atmosphere.
You will return to the lodge around 7:00 p.m. to have dinner and share a space with the workers of the herd.
Finally, rest.
Day 2.
The sun rises around 5:30 am and the sun welcomes a new day to enjoy the plains.
Accompanied by a cup of coffee, you will go bird watching in the forest of the Güira stream near the house.
Around 8:00 a.m., you will have breakfast to give way to the activity of fishing or making llanera handicrafts.
At noon you will have a typical lunch at the ranch facilities.
In the afternoon you will be able to ride through the vastness of the flooded savannah on horseback.
In the evening you will have dinner by the light of the fire, while sharing with the workers of the ranch.
Finally, rest.
Day 3:
A new morning, a new opportunity for bird watching and search for those animals that take advantage of the freshness of the early hours of the day.
You will have breakfast around 7:00 a.m. to start a tour of other sectors of the property to search for animals of the llanos, or if you prefer, you can relax and rest in the “chinchorros” of the herd, taking advantage of the daily life in the colombian llanos.
To conclude this experience, you will have lunch around noon to leave at 14:00 to Yopal.
TYPE OF ACCOMMODATION:
Accommodation will be provided daily in a different nature reserve (Montana, Altamira and El Boral).
Rooms mostly in double accommodation (twin type), private bathroom and solar energy.
(No hot water or air conditioning). Note: It is recommended to carry little luggage to make the horseback ride comfortable. If you require luggage transportation between the natural reserves, it must be requested in advance.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Wear comfortable, cool, quick-drying clothing, ideally in earth tones that allow for greater camouflage in the natural landscape.
Pants and long sleeve shirts.
Cap or hat (you can find an offer of hats in our allied store in Yopal “Sobreros Florentino”). - Rubber or waterproof boots (depending on size and availability they can be supplied by us), and comfortable and safe closed shoes.
- Raincoat and dry bags for equipment.
